We're tried to maintain parity with scenarios already supported/expected on the web. There are folks who see web apps opening windows as pestilence :)

Yes it is important to my new ECM and other future applications.  I would like to use WPF over Flash or .NET Ajax.  I did not expect it to be in the RC1 version of .NET 3.0 but is there any chance by final this would be a feature or should I call it a fix?  As much as I love Microsoft and .NET if this is not going to be included I may have to look at other platforms like Flash.  I've tried Telerik's ajax offering and of course your Atlas Ajax framework but WPF delivers so much more over Atlas or Telerik.

No, this isn't expected to change between RC1 and RTM. That's the story for this version of .NET Framework.

Maybe I'm just jumping to conclusions, but from the looks of the screenshot, I imagine you don't really need a Window as much as a "virtual" modal dialog. Have you considered using a Popup or a Panel as Drew suggests in this thread? These are two forms of workarounds people currently employ.

Out of curiosity, does Flash really let you launch dialogs or Windows in that manner from within the browser?
