Can I change how Publish.html looks like?

Hay!

I'm new in Click Once publish and I don't know where to find any information regarding changing how publish.html looks like. I'd like to include in it my company logo and so on.

Is there any tamplate on wich is based on?
Where can I change background color, fonts...?

And I don't want to change publish.html everytime I publish my app. Is there a way to make this changes only first time?

Thank you for your help!

Hi pinkpanter,

One of the solutions is, you could manually edit the publish.html file in a web-editor (eg. VS05, Dreamweaver & etc).

Is that what you are looking for?

Hello Darren,

Close - I could manually edit the publish.html file, but this means I'd have to edit it everytime I publish new version, because Click Once generates new file every time (if I understand correctly).

I'd reather edit the template (if there is any), so that the changes would stay in every new generated publish.html. I'm just assuming there is some kind of template or somewhere should be specifications for that file? I mean - it cannot be generated out of thin air... :D

Thank you!

Hi pinkpanter,

From the out of the box clickonce, there are no options which I could see that allows me to create a template for that.

What you could do is to wait for some time and let me come out with a tool to do this?

:) Thanks for the answer. I'll just wait for something to come along... :D

Hi pinkpanter,

No worries. I had posted up a request at the VS05 Feedback site and do look forward to messaging/sending you a mail soon to let you know about the latest status from Microsoft as well as myself possibly creating a little widget to help make our lives easier. =)

Thank you very much for this question, and also giving me this opportunity to venture out futher into developing widgets which I had wanted to do for a long time, but have no idea what to start with. =D Great Appreciated that.

Gotten a response from MS Dev Team on this. It had been double confirmed that at the moment, templating is not available and had been put into consideration for a future version of the product.

Following is one of the suggestions by the product team.

"We tried to implement some of that in a very simple way. In the Options dialog, you can uncheck the option to create a publish.htm page. Then, you can use your own publish.htm page on your web site without fear that it will get overwritten."

Hope this helped. =)

I think it would be great if click once generated an xml document in the deploy directory so we could build custom publish pages with the deployment details.
