TFSWarehouse shows data but reports come up empty

Hi,

The built-in reports (e.g. remaining work, related work item, etc.) that come with the project template show 0 for number of work items. I checked the warehouse database tables and
do see the changes to the existing tasks. I've enabled the security permissions in the Team project, the SQL Server reporting services and the Windows share point service admin, but still don't see improvement.

The number of work items shown in the reports is 0 no matter if I use
VS2005, the report site or the project portal to bring them up.

What else can be missing? What can I try?

Thanks.

Hi, thanks, I figured it out. The default fields used by the reports are not the same as those used in the work items, so the reports didn't find the right items. I'll have to edit the report definitions to make them match.

Hi there,

What do you mean by "default fields used by reports are not the same as those used in the work items"? Could you please give me an example so I can understand?

Is this project using a shipped methodology, or did you customize it? If so, how did you customize it?

thanks

Hi, the project is created with the default CMMI template. What I mean is that the SQL reports try to look for work items that have state = Active and so, however, most of the default work items don't have an "Active" state, instead they have open, assigned, proposed, etc. So far I only see the "issue" work item can be set active. This is what I mean by the fields don't match.

So I guess I'll have to edit the report definitions to make them look for the states that the actual work items use.

I'm talking about the Remaining Work report as an example in the above reply.

Yes you will have to edit the report definition for the Remaining Work report to show states such as Open, Assigned, and Proposed. Although I am not sure if these states may not all be classified as "Remaining Work".

Back up any report you modify.

To modify the report create a project (with data sources with the same name/properties as the in-box DSs), export the existing report, import it into your project. Let me know if you would like additional help on these steps.

On the Layout tab:
Right click on the Chart -> Properties
On the Data Tab
Under Values: you will see Closed, Resolved, and Active - Add your Work Item States here with properties similar to the other values.

To be able to preview the report before deploying:
Still on the Layout tab:
Select Report -> Report Parameters
On the Report Parameters Dialog
For the Parameter: ExplicitProject set the default value to "Non-queried" with a value of < Your Project Name >
