TFS Project & Report Server ERrors

When I create a new TFS Project, the Reporting Services component that retrieves "Remaining Work" and "Bug RAtes", etc errors with a message

The path of the item "//Sites/MyTracker/Remaining Work" is not valid. The path must be less than 260 characters long and must start with slash. Other restrictions apply. (rsInvalidItemPath)

The path of the item "//Sites/MyTracker/Bug Rates" is not valid. The path must be less than 260 characters long and must start with slash. Other restrictions apply. (rsInvalidItemPath)

What can I do to fix this??

Hi Randy,

Is this still an issue? If so, please let me know and I can find someone to help.

Thanks,
-Matt

Thank you Matt! Yes, it's still a problem for me. I just don't know where to look...I've ordered some books but need assistance sooner. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Hi Randy,

Are you seeing this error when running the Project Creation Wizard? Does the project get created? Or, are you seeing this error when trying to open the report in the Team Explorer window?

Thanks.

The project gets created but when you go to the home page for the project, that section called "Remaining Work" just shows "Reporting Services Error" and that the path of the item "//sites/<project>/Remaining Work" is not valid. In fact if you click on any of the RS Reports on the quick launch links, you'll get "//sites/<project>/<report type> is not valid" where report type is one of the reports "Bug Rates", "Quality Indicators", etc. Any thing that requires an Reporting Services query just shows the path of not valid.

Hi Randy,

The steps below are to verify that the base URL to the reporting server is correct in TFS.

- Log to the Application Tier and navigate to the following page http://localhost:8080/Services/v1.0/Registration.asmx.

- Click on the link on that page and on the next page click on the Invoke button without typing anything on the text box.

- You will get back and XML document with information about the system. Do a search in that document for the work Report. There is going to be a a property called BaseReportUrl or similar to that. What does that look like? Does it say //sites?

Thanks.
