My group's project alert e-mails are working well but do not come across with any subject line in the e-mail. The alert we have selected is the "my work items are changed by others". How/Where do I configure the subject line being sent in the e-mails? Even having it use the message body's title would be better than nothing.

We have worked with the customer offline and have identified the problem as a setup problem.
Patrick Ng - Visual Studio Team Foundation Server
Patrick Ng - MSFT
that is correct. There was an event in the event logs showing a dll not properly loading which was causing the subject line issue.
Thank you for all the help.

I'm having the same problem after it worked fine and now when we get emails without the subject. Could you please elaborate on the issue?
Thank you

I want to add that when recieving emails about checkins and build, they have subject on it so the problem occures with emails on "my work items changed" .
Do you have any suggestion?

My problem came from needing to try and install TFS a couple of times. We ran into problems on the install where we did not have all the prereqs fulfilled and sharepoint needed to be installed differently before everything could be installed correctly. Something went wrong during that time. The problem is evident in the event log. TFS threw an error that mentioned a dll could not be loaded. Someone from Microsoft provided me a blog posting which discussed how to track down why the dll did not load. The link to the blog is at work so I will try and remember to post that link here tomorrow when I am in the office.
Hope this helps.

The dll that would not load for us is Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Server.EventFilter.dll. The event log should hopefully show the error message with more detail.

Thanks Dave,
I dont get any errors about this dll in the event viewer. Is it possible that this dll is'nt working as it should now, or maybe it it being blocked (by firewall etc.). Does anyone have an idea?

The problem was solved after finally getting warnings in the event viewer about this issue and applying the solution found in:
