TFS Problem regarding SharePoint

Hello

Have set up Team Foundation server successfully and have created and deleted several Team Projects. Everything seems to work just fine.

But this error just started showing up

"Unable to connect to database. Check database connection information and make sure the database server is running. For tips on troubleshooting this error, search for article 823287 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base at http://support.microsoft.com."

Have been through the KB article and severel forum posts out there, but nothing seems to add up. SQL Server is running as I can access Reporting af Work Items just fine. IIS don't seem to be the problem either, so everything points at SharePoint.

Not sure exactly when it started, but it might have started right after the server "crashed" for some unknown reason.

Anyone have an idea what might be wrong. As I mentioned SQL Server 2005 seems to be running just fine.

I have looked a bit more in to the problem

It seem that the STS_Content_TFS database is marked (Suspect) so it might be damaged. I tried doing an sp_resetstatus on the db but it says it's already marked "Un"-Suspect or something.

Is there a way to recreate the SharePoint content db without uninstalling and installing everything again. I don't care about the data in it, it's just test projects and such.

Should probably arrange for som backup next time :)

Hi,

Have you had any luck resolving this issue? If not, please let me know and I can find someone to help.

Thanks,

I didn't check all of the code, but you should be able to delete the content database (use the WSS Admin tool) and then make sure it is really deleted from SQL.

Then if you run repair on TFS we allocate the content DB again (Sorry, I don't recall all of the exact scenarios we handle).

I started to pull together the directions for you, but the # of steps we do is pretty complicated and prone to errors. Basically, we expect the Content DB to be called STS_Content_TFS.

If the repair doesn't work by deleting the content DB, then I would strongly suggest uninstalling SharePoint, cleaning up the Databases, reinstalling and running repair of TFS. This will fix SharePoint up since we don't see it.

Hope that helps,

marc
