I read somewhere that said during the TFS installation, a few local groups are created. I have gone into the Groups manager on the local machine and I don't see any TFS related groups.

Am I missing something?

We don't create Windows groups during install. Rather, our permission system creates several groups within the Team Foundation security system, such as "Team Foundation Administrators". You can view these groups by installing Team Explorer, connecting to the server in Team Explorer, and then going to the "Team" -> "Team Foundation Server Settings" -> "Security" menu.

Why can't you connect to TFS? Is this something expected or not?

And, if you install TE on teh TFS box you will still have to run as an authenticated user, which you could also do from your PC.
