Looking for the best way to add an event-handler to an existing w...

Hi all,

I'm looking for the best way to add an event-handler to an existing web part.

I'm actually trying to assign a string to a read-only field in a SharePoint issues list without having to re-create the issues list from scratch.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
