Team Foundation server sends multiple email alerts

I have registered on TFS for alerts on

Anything is checked in
A build quality changes
A build completes

However I receive multiple emails for each change set. I can see no pattern or timing as to why I get multiple alerts. They eventually stop for a given change set.

Is it possible that I am resistered multiple times for the events?

My guess is that a item-change is meeting criteria of two different events and hence you get two mails. To eliminate chances of duplicate events, you can check the events you are subscribed to (you can use IEventService to query for it, or use the GUI tool http://blogs.msdn.com/narend/archive/2006/07/26/679440.aspx to see the list) and unsubscribe duplicates. As far as I know, duplicate subscriptions for same exact event type & filter do not cause duplicate emails.

You might check to see whether other subscriptions exist for the CheckinEvent and use a discussion-list/mailgroup as a delivery address.
