Problem opening Work Item Selections in Excel


Hi,

One of our users is unable to Open Work Item (Example: Bugs)Selections in Excel.

This is the error he gets:

"TF80012: The document cannot be opened because there is a problem with the installation of the Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Office integration components. Please see the Team Foundation Installation Guide for more information."

Things tried:

Removed all Team Foundation software and components via Add/Remove Programs

Reinstall the Team Foundation Client. (CAL license) --Still got the same error.

The Office 2003 was already installed prior to Team Foundation was installed.

Any help is appreciated

Usual installing PIA (.net programmability support) or reinstalling "Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office Run Time" fixes this. See Smitha's post on list of items to check in forum post http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=110121&SiteID=1 .

Didnt work. However, I dont know if he has Microsoft Office SBA 2003 version.

We are removing it and Team Foundation Client.

Next, we are installing Office 2003 Professional and Team Foundation Client.

After installing Office 2003 Professional you will probably need to repair both Visual Studio Tools For Office and the Team Explorer. The error you received indicates that we were able to launch Excel, but we could not find the TF Excel addin. Once you re-install, you need to repair those items so that the addin will be registered with Excel.

Hi Dennis,

We tried what I posted before, but the same problem occured. Except we didnt remove the Microsoft Office Web Components. ( I wouldnt think this would be the problem).

Also, we tried you posted, but it didnt work either.

Im running out of ideas, except reformatting the whole machine and reinstalling everything.


Any other suggestions?

Hi Staffan,

When you start Excel normally (just from a shortcut, not from Visual Studio), do you see the Team Foundation toolbar (the 'Team' menu or the toolbar with 'New List' on it)? If not then the addin is not registered with Excel. If you do see the toolbar what happens when you click on the 'New List' button?
