I have installed the VsSDKSeptember2006 tools and attempted to go throught the "Family Tree" walkthrough. I complete the project setup by choosing the "Domain Specific Language Designer Project" and enter the defaults. Once I click finish I get a dialog with the ever informative "operation is not valid due to the current state of the object". error.

I end up with a blank solution with no projects. When I attempt to add a project to the solution of "Domain Specific Language Designer Project" the Add New Project wizard has the OK button disabled so that I can not create it.

Has anyone seen this and know of a work around?

I did a complete uninstall - reinstall of the VSSDKSeptember2006 and got the same error. I have been runnning VS2005 professional with the 2.0.50727 framework.

DSL is a cool idea, wish I could use it.

Any help would be appreciated.

We've not seen this error before.

Can I check a couple of things.

1. Do you have Visual C++ installed as part of your VS installation - we have a dependency on that (although this isn't the error I would have expected)

2) Do you have any other CTPs of Microsoft technologies installed such as .Net 3.0?

I am able to create a C++ project, so based on that I will say that I do have Visual C++ installed as part of my VS2k5.

I wanted to look and see what was loaded, so I attemted to open Tools-Toolbox manager and received another interesting error:

The following assembliews are installed SDK assemblies but could not be shown in the customize toolbox dialog because they are missing one or more componenets. Please make sure theat all necessary libraries are available:

Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.Common.dll

Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.Execution.Common.dll

Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.vsip.dll

I will still poke around and see what else I can find. I am happy to get any logs etc... that might help. Thank you.

Hmm,

These "QualityTools" assemblies aren't anything to do with DSL Tools, they're a different part of Team System. Unfortunately, it really sounds like some underlying dll that we and they depend upon has become corrupted in some way.
