problems uninstalling Visual Studion 2005 Team Suite |
|
Hi All, I was using the visual studio team suite 180-days trial edition. The trial period ended today and I wanted to uinstall it and continue using the professional edition. (Note: I had installed team suite without uninstalling the professional edition).
The uninstall process crashed in the middle. So the uninstall is incomplete.
If I try to start visual studio professional edition, the team suite trial edition starts up informing that the trial period is over.
I reinstalled the professional edition but no luck. When I start the VS 2005 IDE it still starts the team suite edition.
Its crazy! How can I get rid of the trial edition of team suite and continue with professional edition? Please help.
Thanks, siwi
| | siwi | I've had the same problem. I was not able to uninstall the Team Suite Trial Edition. I spent 3 hours on the phone with Microsoft Support and they finally were able to help me uninstall manually. Then I installed Visual Studio 2005 Professional and thought all was well. However, whenever I start it, it says "Team Suite Trial Edition". My 180 days has run out. I've uninstalled VS 2005 Pro and reinstalled but no luck - still thinks my Team Suite trial has ended and won't let me use my VS 2005 Pro. I can call Microsoft again but after spending several hours last time, it seems fruitless. Can anyone help?
Ed | | Ed Nicholas | | Try to use the unintaller tool to uninstall the VS 2005. You can get it from this link http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/support/uninstall/default.aspx | | Poh Sze | Thanks.
I've tried all of the Microsoft unistaller tools. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I've spent two three hour sessions on the phone with Microsoft to no avail. Evidently, there is a registry entry that is created using crytographic methods that they can't find. I'm supposed to call them again and they are going to compare the registry of another computer with mine to try to find the rogue registry key(s).
Don't install Microsoft Trial Versions (and especially betas) unless you are prepared to reinstall the operating system to fix the problem - my next step.
