Does anyone know where I could find more information about customizing the field mappings with MS Project?  The current mappings have extremely odd behavior that doesn't seem consistent, i.e. no duration can be specified apparently because it isn't mapped but % complete can be specified IF you fill in Microsoft.VSTS.Scheduling.CompletedWork and Microsoft.VSTS.Scheduling.RemainingWork (but you have to use both and if they don't match Microsoft.VSTS.Scheduling.BaselineWork it doesn't seem to matter or it provides wierd behavior, etc..)

EDIT: Also, it appears as if existing mpp refresh behavior is sometimes unaffected by the latest loaded field mapping changes i.e. setting a mapping to PublishOnly=true that wasn't previously set that way.  Only way it seems to work is if you re-generate the project file from Team Explorer which isn't a viable option since project hierarchy formatting (nor precendence information) isn't preserved on export forcing us to keep the original project file around.  This will obviously become an issue if mapping behavior changes and we have to re-export and then redo all the project hierarchy and precedence behaviors each time a change is made to the field mappings.  Is there an easier way to 'refresh' this for a project file or is this a bug?

Agree, redoing the project hierachies is painful. I'm not sure why field mappings are not reflecting - could be a bug. But you can try the following:

1. Remove the field mappings completely for the field you plan to add "Publish-Only" attribute using the TFSFieldMappingTool. You will do this by:

a. Export the existing mapping file
b. Remove the entry for the field in question
c. Import the modified file back to Team Project in Question
d. Open the associated project plan file and verify if the field has been deleted

2. Add the field mapping for the same field with new attributes. Do the following:

a. Export the existing mapping file
b. Add the entry for the field in question. Make sure that entry has "Publish-Only" attribute
c. Import the modified file back to Team Project in Question
d. Open the associated project plan file and verify if "Publish-Only" is reflecting


Regarding the other problem (not able to value in Duration field) - this doesn't happen to me. Can you explain the issues in detail.
