We use VBA and Office applications at work. I have developed a very simple web site at home using MS Publisher. I would like to take the step of improving my web site and learning VB.NET and/or ASP.NET to expand my offering at work. (We would then buy one of the standard or developer editions at work.)
Specifically I would like to develop pages that use forms to collect and display data on my web pages (which are hosted by my ISP). I would then like to be able to process the data and generate pages that display he results of the process.
I am wary that there are many 'limitations' in the descriptions of VS Express- but I feel I that I probably do fall into the category of a 'hobbyist'.
Any comments would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Alan.

Hi Alan - Yes, I believe the scenario you described is perfect for the Visual Studio Express products. Specifically, you want Visual Web Developer Express Edition for creating the Web site.
Good luck with the application! Another good way to get started learning is to use one of the Starter Kits. It may not be your final application (in this case it sounds like you want a very specific type of application which doesn't map to the Starter Kit scenarios) but it's a great way to learn. For example, build a Personal Web Site and customize it with your own content as a way to learn ASP.NET 2.0. See http://beta.asp.net/default.aspx?tabindex=4&tabid=41 for the Starter Kits.
