Problems with Visual C# Express Install

Let me begin by saying that all I want to accomplish is to be able to develop with the XNA framework. I couldn't find a link to download the framework, but I did find a link to download the XNA Game Studio Express (I believe that's the name). I downloaded it, but then was told I needed to install Visual C# Express.

I have Visual Studio 2005 Pro installed. Do I really need Visual C# Express? It seems silly to me.

Anyway, I have downloaded the install, but it hangs during Setup. It's very, very frustrating because, not only does it hang - it will not close. I've tried killing the process every way I know how, but nothing works except rebooting.

Can someone please give me some direction.

I wouldnt have thought you would need VC# Express if you have VS 2005 Pro for XNA but I could be totally wrong as I have never used XNA.

As for your problem, you may wish to disable your AV software just before installing VC# Express and enable it after, as it can cause installations to block and have this behavior

XNA required C# Express 2005 in order to work. Even though you have VS Pro you will still need to download C# Express. C# Express will work side-by-side with VS Pro so you shouldn't have any compatibility issues.
